Manfred Schneider (1953), musician with the German Army Band Heeresmusikkorps 300 in Koblenz, has already proved his merits with his overture 'Uspide Down', the 'Song of Freedom' and the rhythmical etude 'Rock and Go', all published with Molenaar edition. This 'Rock Symphony' consists of contemporary rhythms alternating with more lyrical passages. Precisely these contrasts and the diversity of the composition make it extremely fascinating. Schneider uses a synthesizer which adds either harp and string sounds or church and jazz organ sounds to the symphonic band. There is also an extra guitar part and a lot of work for several percussionists. This is a bull's eye for the conductor who wants to captivate young audiences.
